We are fortunate many in our community know we help people find jobs, but we also know many do not know how we go about providing those services. Goodwill San Antonio is comprised of three operations – Business Services, Donated Goods & Retail, and Workforce Development. The revenue earned by our Retail and Business Services operations is reinvested back into our mission through our Workforce Development operation where we empower people with life barriers to secure their future through meaningful employment.  We provide education, training, and career services to those who need it most.

Giving Back to His Military Brothers and Sisters

Following high school graduation, Gilbert Mendez made the life-changing decision to join the United States Marine Corp, serving 2 tours in Iraq.  Following his service in the United States Marine Corp, Gilbert's transition to the civilian world was characterized by a loss of direction and self-doubt. That was, until he connected with Goodwill San Antonio.  As a Veterans Program Support Specialist, he provides veterans with personalized job search and resume assistance, mock interviews, and career counseling to help veterans discover what they want to do.

Veterans and Family Career Fair June 2018

Connecting Veterans and Their Families to Careers

On June 12, 2018, Goodwill San Antonio hosted a dedicated career fair for veterans, transitioning service members, and military families at the TriPoint Event Center. The fair brought together 223 job seekers and more than 60 employers representing some of San Antonio's most prestigious companies. Recruiters from :USAA, Rackspace, Accenture, and many others were on hand to meet with veterans and discuss their skills in relation to open employment opportunities.

Fox Tech CNA Program

Fox Tech High School and Goodwill San Antonio Partner to Provide Certified Nurse’s Aide Program

Through an exciting partnership between Fox Tech High School (San Antonio Independent School District's Magnet school for Health and Law professions) and Goodwill San Antonio, 17 Fox Tech Seniors in the health pathway will head to college this fall with more than a high school diploma. Graduates will have also earned a valuable Nurse's Aide vocational certification.

Graduating to a Better Life

Goodwill San Antonio celebrated the accomplishments of 30 Good Careers Academy students at a graduation ceremony held on Friday, June 1. Among those recognized were students who demonstrated incredible courage and commitment to overcome multiple life barriers such as homelessness and addiction to complete studies in either the Nurse's Aide, Medical Assistant, or Pharmacy Technician programs. For many graduates, this was their first time to don a cap and gown and be recognized for their academic achievements with their family and friends present.

Did you have an answer?  Several students visiting Goodwill San Antonio as part of
SA Works' third annual Job Shadow Day answered Physical Therapist, Doctor, Attorney,
Art Curator, and the military, while several others were still contemplating their future
career path.
