Good Careers Academy Graduate

Former Goodwill Employee Triumphs: Graduates from Goodwill Academy as Certified Pharmacy Technician

Living life with no regrets, that’s Kayla Dickinson’s motto for life. At 24, Kayla, once a dedicated employee at the Clearance Center Goodwill, is set to graduate from the Good Careers Academy as a licensed pharmacy technician.

Kayla’s journey began while working at Goodwill San Antonio, after being handed a flyer about the free educational opportunities available at the non-profit organization, her curiosity led her to contact the center for more information.

Despite facing numerous challenges along the way, including balancing her job responsibilities and coursework, Kayla persevered. Through dedication and hard work, she has excelled in the program, displaying remarkable knowledge of pharmaceuticals and patient care.

“My biggest motivation is my family, especially, my mom- I want to be successful to help her,” said Kayla. “I would tell someone interested in the program to pray about it and take a chance. Because at the end of the day, at least you can say that you tried instead of having regrets.”

The culmination of Kayla’s efforts will be celebrated as she walks across the stage at the upcoming graduation ceremony later this month. Surrounded by her peers, instructors, and family, she will be honored for her achievements and commitment to her education.

"I am incredibly grateful for the support I've received from Goodwill and my instructors throughout this journey," expressed Kayla.

Kayla’s story serves as a testament to the transformative power of education and Goodwill’s mission of changing lives through the power of work. As she embarks on this new chapter in her life, Kayla’s future shines bright with promise and opportunity.
