Shaianne: A Story of Growth

Meet Shaianne,

Shaianne is a mother of five. She came to San Antonio from Florida, carrying not just the responsibility of raising her children, but also the weight of starting over.

Having spent the early years of her life dedicated to raising her family, she began to lose her sense of self. Determined to become more self-reliant, Shaianne attempted courses at three other schools, but each time she got close to the finish line, she would quit. Things changed when she was recommended to the Goodwill Academy. When asked why the Academy was different from her experiences before, Shaianna said “Growth, determination, and knowing my kids can one day say, ‘my mommy did it’”.

At the academy, she found a sense of belonging. Being surrounded by peers who were just as determined gave her the motivation to continue moving forward, not just for her kids, but herself.

Join us in commending Shaianne for her hard work as she takes on the world with new eyes. 👏
