Carlos J. Contreras III

President & Chief Executive Officer

Carlos serves as the President & CEO for Goodwill Industries of San Antonio, where he is responsible for leading the non-profit organization in all operational and administrative areas, to include the development of the organization’s vision and strategic plans.

Prior to joining Goodwill, Carlos served as the Assistant City Manager for the City of San Antonio where he was responsible for the City’s departments of aviation, convention and sports facilities, economic development, government and public affairs, and Pre-K4SA. Before joining the City in 2009, Carlos led government affairs efforts for the San Antonio division of nationwide homebuilder KB Home, and prior to that engaged in the practice of law for 18 years, with legal concentration on administrative, legislative, and regulatory law, as well as corporate law.

Carlos holds juris doctor and master of public affairs degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, and an undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. Carlos serves on numerous boards and commissions, including, serving as Chair of the Community Advisory Council for the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, and a similar Advisory Council for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas he also serves on the board of Central Catholic High School and the Executive Committee of greater:SATX. Carlos is married and has a blended family of four adult children and two grandchildren.

Christi Rohmer

Chief Financial Officer

Christi serves as the CFO for Goodwill San Antonio where she is responsible for the financial management of the non-profit including financial planning, reporting, internal controls, and investment management.

Christi brings over 20 years of experience as a CFO and has worked for a major accounting firm, small and large corporations, and most recently, as a consultant to corporate and non-profit clients. In addition to her CPA, Christi earned a Masters of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from St. Mary’s University.

Dave Petersen

Dave Petersen

Chief Operating Officer

Dave serves as the Chief Operating Officer for Goodwill San Antonio where he is responsible for leading the Donated Goods Retail, Facilities Management and Strategic Partnership initiatives.

Prior to joining Goodwill, Dave served as the Executive Vice President of the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce where he was responsible for Human Resources, Financial Management, Membership Operations, Marketing and Communications, and Special Events for the largest and oldest business membership organization in the area serving over 1,800 business members. Prior to his time at the Chamber, he served as a Senior Executive at USAA, consulted in the defense industry, and retired as a Brigadier General and fighter pilot with 30 years of service in the USAF. He and his wife Jacquie are the owners of Mako’s on the Creek, a new American restaurant in Cibolo, which they opened in 2019.

Venisa Sáenz

Chief of Staff

Venisa serves a Chief of Staff for Goodwill San Antonio where she drives strategic initiatives and supports the President & CEO in executing Goodwill San Antonio’s strategy and mission.

Before joining Goodwill, Venisa served as Chief of Staff at the Center for Health Care Services. Her background also includes five years at USAA, where she managed internal and external regulatory requests and provided governance support to USAA’s Board and Committees. Venisa began her public service career with the City of San Antonio, dedicating over 10 years to leadership and policy roles supporting City Council members, the City Manager’s Office, and key operating departments.

Venisa holds a master’s degree from St Mary’s University and a bachelor’s degree from University of Texas at San Antonio.

Chief Workforce Development Officer

Angelique De Oliveira serves as Chief Workforce Development Officer for Goodwill Industries of San Antonio, where she leads education, training, and career services that promote career advancement and economic mobility for the individuals we serve.

She previously held leadership roles at Goodwill as Director of Business Development and Vice President of Business Services, focusing on building strategic partnerships and expanding Goodwill’s mission and enterprise.

Angelique also serves on the Board of Workforce Solutions Alamo and is passionate about strengthening collaboration and advancing programs that expand access to opportunity and meaningful career pathways.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management from the Catholic University of Lille in France and an MBA from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas.

Jerry Arellano

Vice President of Marketing & Communications

In his role as Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Jerry leads the Marketing & Communications team who is responsible for managing Goodwill’s brand reputation and expanding its mission awareness. He facilitates the strategic communications for the agency to include marketing, public relations, and community engagement. Jerry has over 20 years of experience working in public, non-profit, and for-profit sectors.

Tim Hicks

Tim Hicks

Vice President of Innovations and Analysis

Tim serves as Vice President of Innovation and Analysis where he is responsible for leading the organization’s analytical, technology and procurement teams. Additionally, Tim directs initiatives in process improvement efforts and the implementation of new technological capabilities.

Prior to joining Goodwill, Tim accumulated over two decades of experience in retail ownership and corporate strategic analysis. As owner of Learning Express Toys in San Antonio for over 15 years, he successfully operated and expanded this specialty toy franchise by coaching and leading a dedicated team through a dynamic retail landscape. Previous to the entrance into the retail industry, Tim served as a Corporate Strategic Analyst at USAA, developing and implementing multi-year dynamic forecasting models for executive leadership.

Tim holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas, and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.

William Perry

As the Vice President of Contract Services, William is actively involved in providing mentorship and support to Goodwill San Antonio’s current diversified business services and dedicated to seeking out new innovative lines of business to allow for the advancement opportunity and personal growth of Goodwill’s valued employees. William has over 20 years facilities management and maintenance experience, of which over 18 years working with AbilityOne Programs.

William holds various certifications including “Registered Building Service Manager” through Building Service Contractors Association International, “Certified Environmental Service Executive” through International Executive Housekeepers Association, “ISSA Cleaning Industry Management Standard Certification Expert” through International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA), “Six Sigma Green Belt” through American Society for Quality.

Dr. Victoria Pineda

Vice President of Philanthropy & Strategic Partnerships

Dr. Pineda serves as the Vice President of Philanthropy & Strategic Partnerships for Goodwill San Antonio. In her role, she is responsible for leading Goodwill’s philanthropic efforts, while developing and strengthening key partnerships in support of our mission.

Her professional experience expands over two decades achieving strong results in major gifts, donor relations, and fundraising strategies.  She has spent the last sixteen years in higher education where she worked to secure funding for universities in Texas and New Mexico.

She holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from St. Edward's University and earned her doctorate from Vanderbilt University.

Joseph Pope

Vice President of Human Resources

As Vice President of Human Resources, Joseph leads Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Recognition, Compensation and Benefit essentials for the Agency. He began serving Goodwill San Antonio in 2017 as Senior Director of Human Resources. He brings more than 20 years of experience in the functions of Human Resources. Prior to joining Goodwill San Antonio, he served as Executive Director of Human Resources for Santikos Entertainment in San Antonio. Joseph is a Certified Professional (CP) in Human Resources, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.

Debbie Schmidt

Vice President of Compliance and Quality

In her role as Compliance Officer, Debbie administers Goodwill San Antonio’s Compliance and Ethics Program. She is responsible for establishing standards and policies pertaining to regulatory requirements to help ensure legal, ethical, and proper conduct. Debbie ensures such standards are communicated and institutionalized across the agency, and monitors compliance of these standards and policies. Debbie served as Director of Performance Excellence for six years prior to assuming the role of Vice President of Compliance and Quality. Prior to joining Goodwill, she worked at Harland Clarke (previously Clarke American) for 15 years in a variety of quality roles in support of their Texas Award for Performance Excellence and Baldrige Performance Excellence recognition.

George Staska

George Staska

Vice President of Retail Store Operations

In his role as the Vice President of Retail Store Operations, George is responsible for leading and managing all retail functions for the agency’s 26 store and outlet locations. With extensive experience in multi-unit store management, big box retail, and the salvage liquidation market, George is tasked with developing a large, multi-level workforce and creating meaningful efficiency and process improvements in support of the agency’s mission. Prior to joining Goodwill San Antonio, George spent twelve years with Goodwill Industries of North Georgia progressing through store operations to serve as the Senior Director of Development responsible for donor acquisition, retail site development, facility maintenance and oversight of three ISO systems (9001, 14001, 18001). Most recently, George comes to Goodwill San Antonio after having served as the Vice President of Retail Operations for Goodwill in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
