Since our founding, we have remained committed to protecting the environment by focusing on reusing, reducing, recycling, and investing in eco-friendly renewable energy.
Below is a snapshot of Goodwill’s 2025 sustainability efforts and their impact.
Goodwill San Antonio’s retail stores and donation centers offer a convenient way to extend the life of gently used items, providing shoppers with a unique, mission-driven experience.
The Goodwill Academy provides shared textbooks for students to use during classroom instruction, saving trees while reducing training costs.
Through Business Services contracts, Goodwill San Antonio is helping organizations reduce their paper consumption by digitizing their files.
Goodwill San Antonio is reducing its utility cost by at least 10% annually with the installation of motion-sensor lighting, enabling Goodwill to serve more people.
Goodwill San Antonio works direclty with certified vendors who properly manage the recycling of equipment fluid, reducing the amount of fluid waste sent to landfills.
Goodwill San Antonio works with R2 certified vendors to provide secure, environmentally responsible IT asset disposition (ITAD) and recycling services for those items Goodwill can not resell.
This investment enables Goodwill to serve more people in the community by saving more than $139,500 annually in energy costs.

Electronics
We carefully evaluate each donated electronic item to determine its best use:
- Personal data is securely erased from all data-bearing devices
- Items are sold as-is, repaired by our team, or responsibly recycled for parts
- Thousands of refurbished computers are sold at affordable prices each year, supporting digital access in our community
Operations
- Fuel Efficiency
Our transportation team maximizes fuel efficiency through optimized daily routing and preventative vehicle maintenance. - Energy-Efficient Lighting
All facilities feature LED and motion-sensor lighting to reduce electricity consumption. - Smart Climate Control
Heating and cooling systems are preprogrammed for optimal energy use, maintaining comfort during business hours.
