Mariah: A Story of Dedication

Meet Mariah, a proud alumna of the Goodwill San Antonio Academy!

At just 16, Mariah became a first-time mom. Two years later, she welcomed her second child and found herself raising both children on her own. Living with her parents, she was determined to change the course of her life.

That’s when she enrolled in the Goodwill Academy’s Medical Assistant program, “It was an opportunity I had to take, there was no excuse not to,” Mariah said.

Eight years later, she has built the stability she once dreamed of. Today, she serves as a Patient Access Supervisor for Christus Health, providing leadership in the healthcare field while being a role model for her children.

“My children keep me going,” Mariah said. “But without the Academy, I wouldn’t be here today.”

In honor of #WorkforceDevelopmentMonth, we celebrate Mariah’s journey ✨
