Junior League Of San Antonio, Goodwill San Antonio To Host 94th Annual Rummage Around Shopping Event
Annual treasure hunt at 11 Goodwill stores raises funds for local nonprofits
(SAN ANTONIO – February 12, 2018)
Good Buys. Good Times. Good Causes. The Junior League of San Antonio, Inc. (JLSA) and Goodwill San Antonio will host the 94th Annual Rummage Around shopping event, where patrons rummage for high-end treasures from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 at 11 select Goodwill stores, all in the name of philanthropy. Proceeds from the event support local nonprofit partners in the community as well as help fund education, training, and career services that empower individuals with barriers to find jobs and build careers.
Since 2009, Goodwill and JLSA have partnered to serve both individuals and families in our community through the annual Rummage Around shopping event. JLSA members work year-round to donate new and gently used, quality merchandise that is sold in select Goodwill stores the day of the event. Sales from the day help to provide more than $28,000 in gift cards to area non-profits who serve individuals and families in need.
Proceeds from this year’s sale will grant Goodwill gift cards to support 10 nonprofit partners including Any Baby Can of San Antonio, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio, Clarity Guidance Center, Family Endeavors, Family Service Association of San Antonio, Good Samaritan Community Services, Magdalena House, Roy Maas Youth Alternatives, Southwest Key Programs, St. Peter-St. Joseph Children's Home.
"The Junior League of San Antonio and Goodwill each bring unique strengths to the Rummage Around shopping event which has led to its continued success and service to the community,” says Dawn Thurmond, assistant vice president of communications and engagement for Goodwill San Antonio. “By partnering in this annual tradition, we are able to collectively serve our missions and positively impact individuals and families in need."
The Rummage Around event provides shoppers with a mix of top-quality new and gently used designer clothing and accessories, antiques, housewares, and fashionable furniture. During this year’s event, customers will be able to place additional treasures in their shopping carts and help more in need since all items in store will be 25 percent off (exclusions apply).
