Congressman Joaquin Castro To Meet With Veterans Working At Goodwill San Antonio Contract Services Facility
Congressman to tour innovative jobs program that digitizes Army, Air Force medical records
SAN ANTONIO (June 8, 2017)
Congressman Joaquin Castro will tour a Goodwill Industries of San Antonio Contract Services facility to learn how the agency successfully employs wounded warriors, people with disabilities and the general population as part of their mission to change lives through the power of work.
The tour will complete Congressman Castro’s process for becoming an AbilityOne® Champion. The AbilityOne® Program is the largest federal source of employment for people who are blind or have significant disabilities.
Through contracts with the Army and Air Force, Goodwill San Antonio is digitizing tens of thousands of medical records for retired service members. This work expedites time for the U.S. Department of Defense to process medical claims for retired veterans.
Members of the media are invited to a briefing after Congressman Castro’s tour to learn about the program and Goodwill San Antonio’s commitment to provide individuals the opportunity for prosperity through gainful employment.
