Annual treasure hunt at 10 Goodwill stores raises funds for local non-profits

SAN ANTONIO (February 22, 2017) – The Junior League of San Antonio, Inc. (JLSA) and Goodwill San Antonio will host the 93rd Annual Rummage Around shopping event, where patrons rummage for high-end treasures from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at 10 select Goodwill stores. Proceeds from the event will benefit the community by helping fund education, training and services that prepare individuals to find better jobs and build careers, as well as fund partner nonprofits.

Since 2009, Goodwill and JLSA have partnered to serve individuals in our local community through the annual Rummage Around shopping event. JLSA members donate new and gently used high-end merchandise that is then sold in select Goodwill stores.

Last year, proceeds from the sale of these donations granted $28,000 to support partner nonprofits including Arc of San Antonio, Boys Town Inc., Child Advocates of San Antonio, Chrysalis Ministries, Family Endeavors, Family Services Association, Good Samaritan Community Services, Kendall County Women’s Shelter, Magdalena House, Roy Maas Youth Alternatives, Seton Home and The Children’s Shelter.

During this year’s shopping event, customers will receive 25 percent off regular priced clothes and shoes, as well as 25 percent off all Julia’s Attic Boutique items. Through this collaboration, Goodwill provides gift cards for JLSA community non-profit partners to use at the event. Proceeds from the event fund both the Junior League of San Antonio and Goodwill San Antonio programs to serve local families in need.
