GOODWILL PARTNERS WITH GIRL SCOUTS FOR 2016 COOKIE SALES
Nonprofit gives area scouts safe spaces to set up booths for local cookie sales
SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 19, 2016) – For 70 years, Goodwill San Antonio stores have been great places to find deals on clothes and home furnishings. Now, the nonprofit is moving into a new arena: providing a convenient place to purchase Girl Scout Cookies.
Today through March 6, all 20 Goodwill stores located in San Antonio, Kerrville, Laredo, New Braunfels and Seguin will feature booths staffed by area Girl Scouts selling cookies. The stores will also be listed on The Girl Scout Cookie Finder app; a cell phone app that lets scouts share the locations as well as the dates and times of their booths with customers looking for the nearest place to satisfy their collective sweet tooth.
“It’s never too early to learn how the power of work can change lives,” said Goodwill San Antonio President and CEO Marla Jackson. “Goodwill San Antonio is proud to give these young entrepreneurs a safe place to learn the basics of business, just as we’ve done and continue to do for thousands of adults in the communities where we serve. Now, when our customers shop at or donate to Goodwill, they can also buy Girl Scout cookies, and help us share those lessons with today’s youth.”
The Girl Scout Cookie Finder app is available on both the iOS and Google Play stores. Once users download the app, all they have to do is type in their zip code and the app will show the nearest cookie booth location. Desktop users can also go to http://www.girlscouts.org/en/cookies/all-about-cookies.html to use the online service. Better hurry, though! The cookies disappear March 6th.
