GOODWILL OFFERS TRAINING, JOBS WITHIN ITS COMMUNITIES
Kerrville's new Goodwill retail store will open Thursday, July 23, to the public at about 9:15 a.m., immediately after a grand-opening reception and ribbon-cutting. The store is located at the intersection of Harper Road and Junction Highway.
If you think “resale store” when you hear “Goodwill,” that’s probably true of most people. But there’s more to the story, about job training and employment placement and “the power of work.”
Cyndi Erp, director of community involvement for Goodwill Industries of San Antonio, provided “the rest of the story” to a Noon Rotary meeting last week, in advance of the July 23 grand opening of the new Goodwill store in Kerrville.
An invitation-only grand opening is planned at 8 a.m. Thursday to include a reception and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1048 Junction Hwy., and the store will open to the public on Thursday after the ceremony, at about 9:15 a.m.
The new store and “donation station” are in the renovated shopping center building at Harper Road and Junction Highway, adjacent to the new location for Kerrville Drug.
The overall grand opening weekend is July 23-26. Ken Richter of Kerrville, previously on the manager’s team at H-E-B, retired briefly and then was drawn by the opportunity to work at Goodwill as store manager.
