GOOD CAREERS CENTER TO OPEN ON EAST SIDE OF SAN ANTONIO
Location operated by Goodwill offers job search, career preparation services at no cost
SAN ANTONIO (March 26, 2015) — East Side residents will have access to free job search and career assessment services through the newest Good Careers Center that opened Wednesday, March 24, at 1023 Pine Street. Located on the grounds of the Ella Austin Community Center, the Good Careers Center will be open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“This has been a goal of ours for some time: to provide the residents in the neighborhoods near the Ella Austin Community Center a dedicated space to find career opportunities,” said Clarke Mosley, Director of Workforce Development for Goodwill Industries of San Antonio.
Services provided at no cost to the public include:
- Computer access to conduct job searches
- Vocational interest and aptitude assessments/surveys
- Resume-preparation assistance
- Access to community resources such as United Way and Good Choices
- Information about eligibility requirements for Goodwill Programs and Training
The Ella Austin Community Center was the first, and remains the only agency, offering comprehensive social services in the eastern sector of the city. Its services include early child development, parenting classes, youth and family services, Artists-in-the-Making, assistance to individuals and families in crisis, homebound meals, senior nutrition, senior activities, and volunteer income tax assistance programs.
“Our community will now have the added benefit of the Good Careers Center to empower individuals with access to technology and assistance that can help build our community,” said Anthony E. Hargrove, chief executive director of the Ella Austin Community Center.
