GOODWILL ANNOUNCES NEW CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
James Meehan joins Goodwill with experience in staffing, contracting services
SAN ANTONIO (DEC. 22, 2014) – Goodwill Industries of San Antonio is announcing James “Jim” Meehan as Chief Operating Officer. Meehan joins the nonprofit with years of experience in contracting services with organizations specializing in employing workers with disabilities.
In his role as Goodwill’s COO, Meehan is responsible for Contract Services and Retail Operations, where he oversees business operations, growth strategies and customer-facing processes.
Meehan came to Goodwill after serving as the general manager of the Virginia Industries for the Blind, an affiliate of the National Industries for the Blind and an AbilityOne® participant, and the Virginia Business Enterprise Program, which managed the Randolph Sheppard vending program.
“With Jim’s background and expertise, Goodwill is poised to lead our contracting services into new and innovative directions,” said Goodwill President and CEO Marla Jackson.
In Virginia, Meehan was responsible for product development and production at two manufacturing facilities, a Retail Division comprising 11 retail stores, and the Contract Services Division, which managed nine contracts for federal and Virginia governmental agencies.
Meehan served 21 years in the U.S. Navy, having been a Supply Corps Officer for 10 years and a Submarine Sonar Technician for 11.
Jim holds a bachelor’s degree in finance, an MBA in telecommunications from National University in San Diego, and has begun coursework for a doctorate degree in business administration.
