GOODWILL ANNOUNCES DR. ANNE MATULA AS NEW CHIEF EDUCATION OFFICER
Matula to oversee Goodwill job training, education programs
SAN ANTONIO (June 9, 2014) – Goodwill Industries of San Antonio’s President and CEO, Marla Jackson, announces the addition of Dr. Anne Matula as Chief Education Officer.
Matula will oversee all Goodwill job training and education services, including Goodwill’s Good Careers Academy. The Good Careers Academy offers affordable, certification-based career training in healthcare, information technology and other high-demand fields. The Academy offers three locations in San Antonio.
"Our goal with Good Careers Academy and our other job training programs is to prepare individuals for well-paying, high-demand careers while providing a skilled, job-ready workforce to local employers," Jackson says. “Dr. Matula’s extensive background in career training and higher education will contribute greatly to that goal.” She holds a B.S. and a M.B.A. degree from Texas A&M University and a doctorate in education from the joint program at Texas A&M universities – Kingsville and Corpus Christi.
Prior to Goodwill, Matula served as president of the Craft Training Center of the Coastal Bend, a non-profit educational institution, following 23 years at Del Mar College, including her last 10 years there as Dean of Business.
Matula also serves on the boards of many academic and community leadership organizations, including the Texas A&M University Advisory Board for the College of Engineering, the Corpus Christi Independent School District Career and Technology Advisory Board, and Citizens for Educational Excellence.
