Maria: A Story of Courage
Maria became a young mother only to fall into the cycle of domestic violence she grew up in. But when the abuse overflowed to her children, Maria knew something had to change. With no home, no money, no vehicle and no support, Maria turned to Goodwill San Antonio.
Brittany’s determination and support from Goodwill Academy helped her overcome loss and homelessness, begin a medical assistant career, and create a home for herself and her six children.
A flyer and a phone call led Zackary to Goodwill’s no-cost Construction Boot Camp, where he gained new skills and support to pursue a career in construction.
After moving from Afghanistan to San Antonio, Mohammad turned to Goodwill San Antonio’s NXT Level program for support. Today, he has earned his GED, enrolled in college and is pursuing a future in technology.
