Christina became pregnant at 17, and with no parental support or guidance, withdrew from high school. She later obtained her GED and began studying to become a medical lab technician. When her husband lost his job, she couldn’t afford tuition, and as the stress of mounting finances built, Christina knew she needed a career to support her family.
The Dual Generation program connected Christina to Goodwill San Antonio’s Good Careers Academy where she successfully completed Pharmacy Technician certification training.
After receiving assistance with tuition, scrubs, and immunizations, she completed the program in 2019. Today, as a married mother of four, she is employed full-time and on a path of financial stability for her family.
"The Dual Generation program made me believe in the idea of COMMUNITY again, and how coming together, we can achieve anything."
Goodwill San Antonio partners with the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County in the Dual Generation initiative.
Through this partnership, Christina is on a path of empowerment, and is a role model of independence for her children.
