SAN ANTONIO — Goodwill San Antonio is helping back-to-school shoppers by offering a huge discount during Texas Tax-Free Weekend.
The company announced shoppers can take advantage August 7–9 with 50% off everything, including classroom essentials, one-of-a-kind fashion finds, dorm décor, and more. Goodwill is also offering free sticker sheets to shoppers who spend more than $50 at their South Park and Blanco North store locations beginning August 7. They also said that every purchase benefits the community through Goodwill’s mission of “Changing lives through the power of work.”
Data obtained from the National Retail Federation, states that families with children in grades K-12 expect to spend an average of $874.68 on back-to-school purchases for the 2026-2027 school year, while 45% of shoppers say they’re waiting for the best deals before completing their shopping. Due to these high costs, experts said many families have now turned to secondhand shopping to save money.
And as families refresh their wardrobe and closets, Goodwill officials encourage them to donate gently used items to help keep affordable items on shelves, extend the life of quality goods and reduce waste by keeping them out of local landfills.
According to the announcement, the company repurposed 17.2 million donated items in 2025, generated revenue that supported 1,760 local jobs and workforce development programs offered at no cost through Goodwill Academy & Career Services.
Goodwill San Antonio is also providing shoppers with inspiration with their 2026 Back-to-School Look Book, featuring complete outfits and style ideas created entirely with finds from Goodwill stores.
