Today, Goodwill San Antonio team member, Toni Mattox, tells her story. As a Customer Service Representative, she receives calls and routes customer inquiries to the appropriate team. Blind in one eye and overcoming homeless has not stopped Toni. Goodwill has assisted her with access to support and accommodations to make her job easier. With Goodwill, she has found respect and value.

David graduated high school and was enthusiastic to attend a local community college. However, after three years of college, he realized he enjoyed working more and dropped out. Demands of his job were and wanting to be closer to family were too much. David looked for a new career. With only a high school diploma in hand, he received phone calls from only three out of one hundred applications he submitted. Financial burdens where piling up. Unsure of his future, David discovered the Administrative Assistant program being offered at Goodwill San Antonio's Good Careers Academy.

With more than 30,000 young people in Bexar County between the ages of 16 and 24 neither in school nor working, Goodwill San Antonio has partnered with the City of San Antonio and Communities In Schools on a comprehensive initiative to re-engage young adults who are currently disconnected from education, employment, or major social institutions.
The NXT Level Youth Opportunity Center, inside the Frank Garrett Multi-Purpose Center at 1226 NW 18th Street, opened its doors on February 15th and is the first of its kind in Texas. The center aims to connect with the community's most vulnerable youth, by providing critical social and emotional support as well as education and career resources to help young people get back on track and navigate a successful future.

Rosa was in a painful and abusive marriage, with no voice and no opportunity to realize her own potential. She struggled both emotionally and physically until one day found the courage to escape with her four children. Rosa moved from New York to Texas to be closer to her family. She applied and began working for Goodwill San Antonio's Business Services division as a Records Associate While Rosa was more than grateful to Goodwill for the opportunity for employment, the stress of working as a single mother raising four kids, coupled with being in a new environment, was more than she could handle.

North East ISD (NEISD) in partnership with Goodwill San Antonio celebrated the opening of their Medical Professions Academy, a premier training center for the district's high school students enrolled in Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant, Certified Nurse Aide, Emergency Medical Technician, and Pharmacy Technician programs.

On October 25, 2018 Goodwill San Antonio hosted a Career Fair for community members seeking new career opportunities. The hiring event brought more than 50 employers including FedEx, Citibank, Randolph Federal Credit Union, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas, Spectrum, Methodist Hospital, and the City of San Antonio.
