More Donation Information

We enjoy creativity in giving. Anything you've ever bought is likely something someone else would like to buy from Goodwill. We even accept working vehicles and boats. And remember that Goodwill is a major computer recycler, so your working or not working computers are welcome with us.

What We Gladly Accept

Valuation Guide

Internal Revenue Service regulations establish that for a contribution of $250 or more, you can claim a deduction only if you obtain a written donor tax receipt from the qualified organization. You generally can deduct your cash contributions as well as the fair market value of any property you donate to qualified organizations. The fair market value of most household or personal items is generally much less than the price paid when new. You should claim only what the item would sell for at a garage sale, a flea market, or a second-hand or thrift store. You must fill out Form 8283 (PDF) Section A, if your total deduction for all non-cash contributions is more than $500.

For more information on this requirement, refer to Publication 526.

This Valuation Guide is designed to assist you in meeting I.R.S. requirements for the tax valuation of your donation. As always, please consult with a tax professional for specific guidance.

COMPUTER DONATIONS

Through a partnership with Dell, Goodwill offers our community the opportunity to responsibly recycle computers and equipment. E-waste is a growing concern for our environment and Dell has provided a great solution and system. Last year, we refurbished and sold thousands of computers and peripheral accessories at our Computer Works locations at De Zavala at IH-10 and SW Military Drive at Zarzamora, creating jobs and much-needed funds. Those items not sold are de-manufactured with "zero waste."

We need individuals, businesses and organizations to give outdated computers, working or not, to Goodwill. Rather than collecting dust, they can be helping others get back to work and to productive lives.
