Benefits
Volunteering at Goodwill is a great way to experience our mission in action and work alongside the more than 50% of our staff who have a disability or barrier to employment!
It's a fast paced, rewarding environment guaranteed to leave you in awe of what Goodwill team members accomplish each and every day. Choose Goodwill for your group volunteer effort today!
Types of Organizations We Work With
Fraternities, sororities, parochial schools, college classes, Boy Scouts, businesses such as Chase Bank and others have all chosen Goodwill for their group volunteer projects!
Whether having your group volunteer at a store, or creating a unique volunteer experience, we're here to support your needs. Unique examples include Trinity University students preparing marketing plans, UTSA professors assisting with research studies, another college class completed mystery shopping studies - the opportunities are endless!
Where To Go
For a group volunteer project, please contact the Marketing Unit to arrange a unique service opportunity. Let us know your objectives and timeframes and number of volunteers and we'll match you to a need within the organization! For a listing of all the convenient locations your group could potentially volunteer, click here.
What To Wear
Goodwill requests that volunteers wear comfortable and "customer friendly" attire, such as jeans, khaki pants, and appropriate shirts. Of importance is wearing closed-toe shoes and avoiding any type of high heel or shoe that is inappropriate in a warehouse environment. We can provide a locker to store your essentials, including your cell phone.
What Will I Do?
Some group volunteers are completing an educational requirement, such as an efficiency study, marketing support, etc. However, most of our group volunteers simply create a team-building opportunity by working in a store or other location.
If working in a store, the group will most likely assist with donations, the sales floor and customer service elements. Goodwill offers a variety of options and locations for group volunteers, so contact us today!
United Way Days of Caring
Goodwill has been partnering with the United Way back when it was called the United Fund in 1953! We proudly list Days of Caring events on the United Way website for groups to sign up for during the campaign season (typically early October). To check out the many options available, visit the United Way at www.unitedwaysatx.org
