Goodwill Job Help Centers


Our Job Help Centers are open to the public and are the starting point for receiving services. Our professionals are ready to help you find your way back to the career you need and the independence you desire.

Financial Strengthening


Goodwill believes in asset building as the single best way to eliminate poverty in the communities we serve. Whether you need to repair your credit, access low-cost or low-fee banking services through our partnership with generations federal credit union, or simply gaining the knowledge and skills to become financially secure, we have the tools to help you and your family.


We offer other opportunities as well, including Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) services that prepare taxes for free, or a savings program that matches your $1 saved with up to $8. Just a few of our Financial Strengthening Services include:

Career Services


  • Job preparation, placement, retention and advancement

  • Job Help Centers across the community that provide access to equipment, assist with job searches and case managers who provide resume templates, complete assessments and provide United Way referrals and supports

  • Career training and certifications in fields such as Information Technology and Health Care and assistance in completing pre-requisites such as GED certificates

Life Services


  • Home, education and car savings programs whereby if qualified, people can save a $1 to have it matched by $3 and $4 depending upon the funded program availability

  • Access to free and low-cost preventive health services through our partnership with the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District and University Health System

  • Access to financial literacy programs and banking services that are designed to mitigate predatory lending practices

  • Referrals to local programs and services such as Food Stamps, TANF, Medicaid, etc.

Good Health at Goodwill


We have a wonderful partnership with the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District and the University Health System, both public health agencies. Co-located at our Goodwill Store at Loop 410 and Blanco, Good Heath at Goodwill offers children's immunizations by appointment. In addition, mobile health events, such as diabetes screenings, mammograms and other services are provided throughout the year.


Good Careers Academy


If you need help getting started, we can do that too at the Good Careers Academy. From GED preparation to medical and IT certification programs we can help you gain the skills needed to get ahead. You may even be eligible for a 25% discount. Education Assistance

If you qualify, we can offer $3 in matching savings for every $1 saved towards education expenses. This savings allows you to attend an accredited school/college/university and pay for tuition, fees, books and training related items. Save a maximum of $250 on your own, and we'll match with a maximum of $750, for a total of $1,000!


To be eligible, you must:

Did you know that the United Way offers phone and web support for finding resources in your community? That's right, simply dial 2-1-1 for assistance, just like you would dial 4-1-1 for information. This free service to the community is also available online at www.211.org.

Center for Health Care Services

The Center for Health Care Services (CHCS) is the community mental health center for Bexar county. Its mission is to improve the lives of people with mental health situations, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse challenges. Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS)

The DARS Division for Rehabilitation Services is designated as the state's principal authority on the vocational rehabilitation of Texans with disabilities, except persons with visual impairments and the legally blind.
